| The Waballlau (WAter BALLoon LAUncher) made its first test shot today, smashing the record for projectile distance from a Nonsense-Software-made launcher. The Waballlau launched a water balloon 25 feet 3.5 inches, breaking the previous record by about 10 feet. The previous record holder was the Trebuchet of Doom.
Jonathan Nafziger, the creative mastermind behind the construction project, has been working on the project since aproximately 1:14 Monday afternoon, after being inspired by a vision from God, or something like it. "Well, the clouds parted and there was a [bright light]. I heard a voice saying something about a second flood and whole ton of cubits but I kinda ignored it and started building my launcher," said Nafziger in a recent interview.
The succesful 25 foot launch was the 4th in a series of test launches. After the third launch the wood got wet and swelled so the latch slider was stuck at half power. "[in] the earlier launches we were having trouble with the [expletive deleted] balloon ... exploding before it left the end of the Waballlau," Nafziger explained, "so we tweaked the eyebolts up a bit so it would lift the baloon away from the track a bit more." After some adjustments Nafziger was able to launch the balloon succesfully.
Nafziger hopes to dry the Waballlau off and crank it up to full power
sometime this weekend.
